This is just the beginning

Yesterday, January 5, was the 20th anniversary of the franchise's only playoff victory. The Lions played the young Dallas Cowboys at the Pontiac Silverdome and won 38-6. Eric Kramer finished the game with 341 yards and 3TDs. Barry Sanders had a huge 47 yard touchdown run and Mel Jenkins intercepted an Aikman pass and returned it for a touchdown. It was a dominating victory for the Lions.

Saturday the Lions could win their second playoff game in the franchise's nauseating history. If they can get pressure on Brees and continue their dominance on offense they could do it. Realistically though there are too many if's for the Lions in this game. I believe the Lions will lose a close one. But let's not get upset about another Lions playoff loss. Instead, look back at those '91 Cowboys. Those Cowboys were young. Emmitt, Irvin, and Aikman, who was in his third year at QB. Remind you of something?

At the beginning of the year, Troy Aikman told sporting news that he saw similarites between his Cowboys and this Lions team. Think about it.  Matthew Stafford is coming off of a record breaking year after just
his...3rd season. Calvin may be better than Irvin, who was a beast in his own right. The only thing we're missing is a healthy Best & Leshoure. This team is loaded with young talent for years to come.

After the Lions lose to the Saints Saturday, think about that Cowboys team. Remember, that team went on to win 3 Super Bowls. I'm not saying we'll win three but soon we could be celebrating down Woodward, at Hart Plaza, and pretty much anywhere we want.
