Pistons Sign T-Mac

Monday the Detroit Pistons held a press conference to officially announce the signing of Tracy McGrady. Despite the fact that we already have a million guards on the roster, this addition is a good one for the Pistons. Many of the Pistons fans I've heard from are worried about the T-Mac deal because of the Allen Iverson move made a few years ago. We all remember Iverson. He got here and in his press conference stated that he'll do whatever he needs to do for the team. Well, that quickly changed when Coach Curry asked Iverson to come off the bench. Iverson didn't want to do it and faked injuries. While faking those injuries, he lived at the local casinos which eventually banned him for his behavior. The Pistons had enough and released him. Iverson was not a good fit here. At Monday's press conference, McGrady said some similar things. So why would I believe him over what Iverson said? Well, McGrady is coming off of a devastating injury. He played only 30 games last year averaging just 8.2ppg, 3.1rebs, & 3.3assists. McGrady needs this team. I don't like to talk about player salaries, but in this situation it matters. When Iverson came here, though willing to do whatever, he was getting paid about $18-$20 million. With that salary, was he truly going to sacrifice himself for the team? No. McGrady is getting only $1.3 million for one year. After his knee injury and that salary, he sounds more willing to sacrifice himself for the team. He needs this team. This is a good addition for the Pistons because its not a huge risk and who knows it could end up being a huge gain.
